M-1 Challenge Event Tickets Available Now At Ticketweb.com

M-1 Challenge Event And Seminar Tickets Available Now At Ticketweb.com

Warrior Promotions are proud to announce the 7th edition of the worldwide M-1 Challenge, will finally hit British shores on September 27th, when four of the leading M-1 Challenge Teams battle it out in pursuit of national pride and personal glory.

Competing in this prestigious event will be five members of the world famous Red Devils Fight Team, as they battle it out against a USA team, which includes three established veterans from some top Stateside events. Whilst the other five bout series sees the up-and-coming Russian Legion team taking on a European “All Star” team which includes a UFC veteran and some highly rated young European stars. With $50,000 up for grabs for the winners of the end of year finals, everything is to play for during the tournament stage of the competition.

As well as the exciting M-1 Challenge bouts there will be three Superfights featuring some top UK talent. And with places potentially up for grabs for the 2009 UK M-1 Challenge team, all the fighters will want to impress. Already confirmed is an explosive rematch between the former Nottingham Pro Boxing legend Wayne Buck and the Italian Muay Thai fighter Matteo “The Brutal” Minonzio. The Italian handed Buck his first Pro MMA defeat on July 12th at the Harvey Hadden Centre and Buck is keen to avenge his cut stoppage loss. With both fighters being known to knock out people both standing and on ground, be prepared for a real war of attrition when these two superb strikers meet next month.

But that's not all, as the “self proclaimed UK's number 1 Lightweight” Ian “M-16” Butlin looks to prove a point when he faces the CFC British Champion AJ Wenn in a Lightweight Superfight. Butlin, a former amateur boxer is keen to prove his worth against the best UK Lightweights and Wenn certainly fits the bill. Sporting an 8-1 record, Wenn possesses a strong clinch and ground game, which he hopes will overcome Butlin's striking ability when they meet inside the ring.

Whilst the Superfights are rounded up by a Middleweight clash between the popular local Muay Thai fighter and “Art of War” veteran Christian Smith and the versatile grappler from Total Dojo; Cliff Hall. Both men are veterans of the “Cage Warriors: Enter The Rough House” shows in Nottingham and are keen to win in front of their home fans. This should be another fascinating striker/grapper clash; with Smith looking to to get a win on his return to action. Whilst Hall will look to show the submission skills that have seen him go 3-0 in Pro MMA action during 2008.

MMA Fighters & Fans will also be able to attend an afternoon seminar at the venue when the eight time Pride FC veteran Aleksander Emelianenko and UK MMA stars Ian 'The Machine' Freeman & Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy teaches some of the skills which have made them internationally recognised. Participants will be shown some of the skills and get to train with these excellent fighters who have featured on some of the top shows around the world Other famous MMA fighters will also be attending throughout the event, as the UK gets ready to host this worldwide promotion.

There will also be a variety of trade and merchandise stalls at the event and the entire show is being filmed for broadcast in the UK and around the world.

Ross Pearson "Ready For War" At Fightzone

Ross Pearson "Ready For War" At Fightzone This Saturday

Warrior Promotions Fighter Management's latest signing Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson (8-2-0) will be fighting this weekend at Fightzone 4 which takes place at the Temple Park Leisure Center, South Shields, Tyne and Wear, UK.

Warrior Promotions had been in negotiations with Fightzone Promoter David Wilson, after injuries and withdrawals had forced changes to this North East based MMA show and Pearson was available due to a postponed fight elsewhere.

Pearson will face Lee Liversey who is known for his stand-up skills, in a under 73kg Catchweight bout. Warrior Promotions would like to thank David Wilson for making this fight happen and we look forward to Ross impressing once again and add another win to his record.

About Ross Pearson

Ross Pearson is one of the hottest young talents in the UK MMA scene. At just 23 years of age; Pearson is already the current Ultimate Force Lightweight Champion, having defeated the experienced Irishman Aiden Marron in May. Since making his debut in 2003, Pearson has slowly worked his way up the ranks and impressed on the North East circuit winning the Strike and Submit British Lightweight Title and the Total Combat International Lightweight Title.

His potential saw the North East based fighter called-up to Cage Warriors: Enter The Rough House 5 in December last year, where he defeated the tough Muay Thai fighter Steve Tetley. Due to his performance, Pearson earned rave reviews from the MMA media who saw him for the first time in one of Europe's biggest events. Since then Pearson's career has sky-rocketed and the tough all round fighter is currently on a 6 bout win streak with wins over Aiden Marron, Cedric Celerier and the unorthodox Cage Rage veteran Sami Berik.

In order to capitalise on his vast potential; Pearson signed a management contract with Warrior Promotions earlier this summer and both sides hope to see Pearson move on to bigger and better things in the near future.

Cliff Hall (Left) vs. Christian Smith (Right)

Christian Smith will return to the Harvey Hadden Centre after a six month layoff and will be looking to reverse a bad spell which has seen him lose two straight bouts against the hard hitting Birmingham striker Chris Rice and the Irish all rounder Mark "Manslaughter" O'Toole. Smith, a veteran of Cage Warriors, Pain and Glory and the US based 'Art of War' promotion, is known for his stand-up skills which have seen him defeat the likes of Jonas Majauskas, Michael Turner and the tough Wolfslair Academy fighter Jay Keiron.

Whilst Total Dojo's Cliff Hall (6-3-0) makes his forth appearance of 2008 and will be looking to make it four straight wins since moving up a weight division at the start of the year. Originally from Milton Keynes, Hall moved to Nottingham earlier in the year and has trained with the Pro Elite contracted star Paul "Semtex" Daley, whilst also continuing to train with the likes of Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion Danny Batten at his regular Total Dojo base.

Twenty Questions With Ian "M-16" Butlin

From http://www.cagewarriors.com/ and http://www.cagewarriors.com/article.130.htm

Twenty Questions With Ian "M-16" Butlin

On September 27th, Ian "M-16" Butlin will attempt to silence his critics and show why he is one of the UK's top Lightweight fighters when he faces the CFC Lightweight British Champion AJ Wenn at the highly anticipated M-1 Challenge show in Nottingham.

Eager to promote the fight and set the record straight the Warrior Promotions contracted fighter Ian Butlin took some time out from his busy schedule to talk to Cagewarriors.com about the M-1 Challenge series, the forthcoming bout and much, much more.

Here's a brief snippet

CW.com - Back in September 2006 (after your win over Phil Raeburn at Cage Warriors: Showdown 1) you made the now infamous rant to announce you will be entering the Cage Warriors 8 Man Lightweight tournament in November that year. Did you really see yourself as the UK number 1 lightweight or was it just casual hype?

See below for the infamous rant
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1gBfLBNEPU

Ian Butlin - At that time I had no doubt I was the UK's number 1 Lightweight. Ollie Ellis had been making excuses forever whilst we were ranked one and two. We all hoped the tournament would sort that out but it turned out Cage Warriors had to bring in foreign opposition to make up the tournament, which to this day was a great event.
I still think I am ranked up there but as we have found it so hard to get UK opposition its hard to tell. Not many of they guys ranked above me would beat guys such as Aidan Marron, Jarkko Latomaki or KO Emmanuel Geay in the first round, so I am not losing any sleep over these ‘official' rankings, I see them as a bit of a joke really.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And don't forget this prestigious International event will be hosted by Warrior Promotions, owners of Cage Warriors Fighting Championship, in Nottingham as a pre-cursor to introducing the first ever British Team into the M-1 Challenge Tournament next year. The UK will host further events next year whilst this September will witness four of the most acclaimed teams in the 2008 tournament battling it out in pursuit of national pride and personal glory.

The four teams competing in Nottingham hoping to qualify for the finals in Japan on New Year's Eve will be; Red Devils vs USA & Russia Legion vs Europe. All four teams will be taking part in a total of 10 international super-bouts.Plus there will be an additional 3 “Superfights” which of course includes the self-proclaimed UK number 1 Lightweight Ian "M-16" Butlin as he takes on the CFC British Champion AJ Wenn.

As well as this exciting and innovative event; Warrior Promotions are also proud to announce at there will be a seminar featuring the former Pride FC star and current Red Devil Team Member & Coach, Aleksander Emelianenko. Aleksander, the younger brother of the formidable Fedor Emelianenko sports an impressive MMA record of 11-3 and has fought of the best names in the MMA world. He will be conducting a seminar with his team and will be looking to pass on some of the skills which have seen his team rise to the top of the MMA tree.

That's not all as UK MMA Legend Ian ‘The Machine’ Freeman, the young upcoming MMA star & current Cage Warriors Champion, Gegard Mousasi and the UFC Welterweight Protégé Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy will also be attending this Seminar and the M-1 Challenge show later on in the day.
